It’s ON @ Crandon! NRA TV shows up to shoot some trap w/ TORC’s Scott Taylor

Taylor & host Matt Duff of “Friends of NRA” TV on the Outdoor Channel blast clay pigeons – Duff to ride in PRO 2 on Friday

CRANDON, Wisc. (Sept. 1, 2011) – You know you’re at cool off-road venue when the NRA shows up with TV cameras and a host wanting to shoot trap with one of the drivers.

Wisconsin’s Crandon International Raceway – home of the granddaddy of all short course off-road races – is hosting the National Rifle Association this week, with one of the Traxxas TORC Series, presented by AMSOIL, drivers – Scott Taylor (Miller Electric Welders) – on hand to shoot some trap with the NRA guys at Crandon’s private trap range right behind the famous “Land Rush Start” area.

The Outdoor Channel’s “Friends of NRA” TV show host Matt Duff hung out with Taylor and Crandon board member/sharp shooter Tom May and talked of the finer points of shooting trap, something Taylor – who’s currently running 5th in the TORC PRO 2 standings – is pretty well in tune with.

“I’ve been shooting trap and skeet since I was 12, actually hanging out at the range and picking up shells and stuff since I was eight,” said Taylor. “Between (ages) 12 and 30 I shot league and tournament (trap and skeet), sometimes as much as four nights a week and then again on Sunday,” noting that during that time he probably reloaded upwards of 2,000 shotgun shells a week!

“Lot of fun … still is.”

Between his business (Miller Electric Welders) and racing the Traxxas TORC Series, Taylor has little time to shoot anymore. He figures the last time he shot was here at Crandon a couple years ago, then before that there was about a “six or seven-year gap” where he didn’t shoot at all.

Still, Taylor hit some incredible shots for the Friends of NRA TV show, which will air in early January 2012. Matt Duff will also get a firsthand look at Taylor’s world of PRO 2 trucks when he straps into the TORC/Ram PRO 2 ride truck for some hot laps on Friday.

Action gets underway on Friday morning, Sept. 2, with a parade of all the trucks through downtown Crandon. The PRO classes run on Friday to make up for the rainout earlier in the season at the Crandon Brush Run.
