BORGWARNER MANUFACTURERS’ CHALLENGE CUP AWARDED TO FORD
AT CRANDON INTERNATIONAL OFF-ROAD RACEWAY
Auburn Hills, Michigan, September 9, 2008 – Driving a Ford F-150 with record qualifying lap times, Scott Taylor raced to victory at the World Championship BorgWarner Shootout at the Crandon International Off-Road Raceway in Crandon, Wisconsin, Labor Day Weekend. The win crowned Taylor the ‘King of Off-Road Racing’ for the second time since 2002 when he became the first driver of a PRO 2-wheel drive truck to claim the title. For the ninth time in 14 years, the Ford Motor Company will display the BorgWarner Manufacturers’ Challenge Cup, a sterling silver symbol of excellence valued at $125,000.
Sponsored by BorgWarner Inc. and BorgWarner TorqTransfer Systems, the 10-lap World Championship BorgWarner Shootout race is the most prestigious in professional off-road truck racing for drivers, team owners and sponsors. PRO 4x4 trucks square off against PRO and Super Truck 2-wheel drive pickups to determine who will be off-road truck racing's most celebrated champion. The manufacturer of the winning truck is awarded the BorgWarner Manufacturers’ Challenge Cup, a 44-inch tall, hand-crafted trophy made of sterling silver and 18-karat gold. The winning driver receives a smaller replica of the trophy, valued at $7,500, in addition to cash prizes.
“BorgWarner’s support of off-road racing has strong ties to its research and development efforts, advancing the company’s product leadership position in the automotive industry,” said Dan CasaSanta, President and General Manager, BorgWarner TorqTransfer Systems. “Congratulations to Scott and Ford on their victory.”
